Rewards & House System
The system of rewards at Caldicot are closely aligned to the school's house system. Combined, they seek to further promote student achievement as well as contribute to the development of the whole person. The school acknowledges and rewards endeavours shown by our students in the form of House points.
There are four houses within which all students and staff are placed. The house patrons have been chosen by a student/staff vote and are: Attenborough, Bevan, Curie, and Pankhurst. The house patrons represent the best in British values and reflect our aspirations for our students. The House system provides great opportunities for all students to develop leadership skills, build effective teams and demonstrate positive values through healthy competition at school. Sixth form students lead each house with a designated member of staff, while students in each form are assigned to one of the four houses.
The system is designed to be accessible to students from a range of academic and extra-curricular activities. For clarity we have organized the criteria using the mnemonic LEAD.
Leadership
Working with other students & adults to help develop interpersonal skills
Environment/Ethos
Working to develop a positive environment & ethos for everyone
Achievement
Working to develop yourself in every aspect of life
Dedication
Working to develop perseverance & strength of character.
Celebrating Success
The school celebrates the success of individuals, form groups, year groups and houses through a range of positive learning attributes and behaviours. These relate to an individuals own progress (from their own starting point) through to work to support the school community, whether through support to another students or staff member and/or the wider school community.
